A petition to repeal the rules that allow Government to lockdown the country has been launched.

The petition – listed on the New Zealand Parliament website – says the House of Representatives should repeal the covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 and urges the Government to manage the covid-19 situation by following the New Zealand Influenza Pandemic Plan and the legislation identified within that plan.

Petition sponsor Trish Castle states: “I believe that the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 is a draconian piece of legislation containing many breaches of the Bill of Rights Act 1990 and other legislation.

“I believe that New Zealand has a long history of respecting human rights as set out in the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990, the Human Rights Act 1993, and other legislation, and it is time these rights were restored.”

Click here to sign the petition by the deadline of 27 October 2021 – please share far and wide.
