Three’s new-look AM show will air for the first time on Tuesday 8 February from 6am. The programme will be co-hosted by Ryan Bridge and Melissa Chan-Green, and will cover news, entertainment, sports, and weather content.

Ryan and Melissa will be joined on-air by News and Sport Presenter, Bernadine Oliver-Kerby, and Roving Weather Presenter, William Waiirua. Bernadine will also present AM Early, a news bulletin to air at 5.30am on weekdays.

Kim Blair to start new role at MediaWorks

Kim Blair is taking up the position of General Manager at MediaWorks, covering the Wairarapa region. He has worked at MediaWorks for several years in various programming and content roles, most recently as the Content Director at Magic Talk. He will relocate to Masterton for his new role on 2nd February.

Kate Gregan joins Today FM

MediaWorks’ soon-to-launch radio station, Today FM, has welcomed Kate Gregan to the team as a World News Editor. She joins from RNZ where she was a Senior Reporter. Prior to this, she was a Producer / Journalist for the BBC World Service.

MediaWorks welcomes Bridget Hastie

Bridget Hastie has been appointed Assistant Content Director / Newsroom Operations Manager at Today FM. She joins from The Breeze, where she had been a News Presenter for five years. Prior to that, Bridget read the news across the NZME network.

Lydia Lewis joins the team at RNZ

Lydia Lewis has started a new role as a Journalist at RNZ. Prior to this, she had been with Newshub since 2015, where she was an Autocue Operator and an Assignment Desk Assistant before working as a TV and Radio Reporter.

Leonie Hayden farewells The Spinoff

Leonie Hayden has finished her role as Ātea Editor and Staff Writer at The Spinoff. She also hosted Nē?, the company’s podcast series. Leonie has left journalism to study full-time, but will continue hosting the Nē? podcast.

1News appoints Community Manager

Breanna Barraclough has started as the Community Manager at 1News. She was formerly the company’s Digital Initiatives Editor. Prior to that, Breanna was a Digital News Producer at 1News.

Bay of Plenty Times welcomes Ethan Griffiths

Ethan Griffiths is now a Reporter (Open Justice – Te Pātiti), based at the Bay of Plenty Times newsroom. He covers crime and justice issues across the wider Bay of Plenty region, including the Coromandel, Tauranga, Whakatane and Opotiki areas.

Ethan’s new role is supported by the Public Interest Journalism Fund, and his stories are published across the New Zealand Herald and Newstalk ZB, as well as partner organisations, Radio New Zealand, Allied Press and Top South Media.

Applications for the 2022 NZ Radio Awards now open

Entries for the 2022 NZ Radio Awards are now open until Thursday 10 March. Applications are open to all New Zealand radio stations and staff, as well as advertising agencies, production houses, and those who contribute to New Zealand’s broadcasting landscape.

Finalists for the awards will be announced in April and the winners announced 26 May.
