Changes made at flava, The Hits, ZM…

Publisher and broadcaster NZME has announced the following changes to its 2022 line-ups across flava, The Hits, and ZM:

  • Pene Pati, Amitai Pati and Moses Mackay have left flava’s Breakfast programme to focus full-time on their music. 
  • Replacing them on flava’s Breakfast in 2022 will be Stacey Morrison, Mike Puru and Anika Moa (pictured). They will join the programme from The Hits Drive. 
  • Laura McGoldrick will present The Hits Drive. She has hosted the station’s 3pm Pick Up show for two years. 
  • Megan Papas will replace Laura as Host of the 3pm Pick Up programme. She has been a Co-Host at ZM’s Breakfast since 2014. 
  • Replacing Megan on ZM’s Breakfast is Hayley Sproull, who will join existing co-hosts Fletch and Vaughan from 17 January 2022.

MediaWorks’ Today FM

MediaWorks will launch its new talk station, Today FM, in Auckland on 90.2FM. The Rock, which currently airs on this frequency, will move to 106.2 FM from 1st January 2022. The Rock will be simulcast on both frequencies until Today FM’s launch.

In addition to Auckland, Today FM will also broadcast on FM frequencies throughout the country, including the new frequency 95.3 FM in Canterbury.

Chris Reeder has been appointed Content Director at Today FM. He is currently the Assistant Content Director at Magic Talk’s Drive programme. Chris will commence his new role in January. 

Today FM will launch in the first quarter of 2022.

Katie Parker’s new role at TVNZ

Katie Parker has started as a Digital Content Coordinator with the media logistics team at TVNZ. In her new role, she is responsible for sourcing local and international content for the broadcaster’s linear channels and OnDemand

Holly Henry farewells Newshub

Holly Henry has departed her role at Newshub, where she had been a Journalist based in its Christchurch bureau since 2018. Prior to this, she was a Broadcast Journalist at TVNZ 1. Holly is currently open to opportunities in media.

Gianina Schwanecke joins Stuff

Gianina Schwanecke has joined Stuff a reporter, based in its Hawke’s Bay bureau. She joins from previous stints in the same role at the Wairarapa Times-Age and, most recently, at Hawke’s Bay Today.

Caitlin Ellis

Caitlin Ellis has joined MediaWorks as a Radio Journalist. She was previously a Radio Reporter for Newshub and, before that, a Digital News Producer for the network.

News from Henry Rounce

Henry Rounce has finished up in his role as a Creative Producer for Sky Sport after two years with the broadcaster. He will be relocating to the United Kingdom at the end of this year and remains open to freelance opportunities related to sport.

Amy Prebble farewells Scout

Amy Prebble, Managing Editor at Scout, has taken on a new position as a Senior Writer for property development company, Ockham Residential. Prior to joining Scout, Amy held a number of senior roles in magazines and communications, including as Editor of Good Health and Wellbeing and Publicity Manager for MediaWorks Group.

New additions at Consumer

Consumer has welcomed two new members to its editorial team:
Dr Cherie Lacey is now the magazine’s Lead Investigative Writer. She also works as a Research Fellow in the Department of Media and Communication at the Victoria University of Wellington.
Jessica Keane has started as a Digital Journalist. She is a trained Scriptwriter for stage and screen, and was most recently a Digital Media Producer at The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
